Tokio Hotel - Memory lane

We produced Tokio Hotel's music video for "Memory Lane", including casting and set design. The shoot took place first in Brandenburg and then in Berlin-Wedding.

THE CONCEPT
‍What happens when you come face to face with your own past? The concept was already set: "Memory Lane" is about looking back on where it all began.

For the music video, this became Tokio Hotel meeting Tokio Hotel: today's band encounters their younger selves. Bill, Tom, Gustav and Georg, cast to match the band as it was 20 years ago. The challenge: the four young actors had to come as close as possible to their role models from that era, from casting all the way to styling.

THE EXECUTION
‍We kicked off in Brandenburg. For the driving scenes of the "young" Tokio Hotel members, we used a car rig to capture dynamic shots on the move. We shot in a VW Golf II, true to the era in which the scenes are set.

The styling of the young actors in particular made the time travel visible on camera. The "young" Bill's hair, for example, was in the hands of the band's longtime stylist.

For the prom scene, Ballsaal Wedding became the stage for this encounter. We transformed the location into a complete prom world, including a custom-built stage.

The audience was meant to be more than just a backdrop, too. Through a fan call on the band's Instagram, around 60 people were selected to become part of the scene. This gave fans who have followed the band since the beginning the rare chance to become part of the story themselves.
